Introduction
Welcome to "Cook With Juyea"! Today, we're diving into a delicious Danish dessert known as Æblekage, which translates to "Apple Cake." This delightful treat is more of a trifle than a cake, featuring layers of stewed apples, custard, and ground biscuits. It’s a perfect dessert to make ahead and impress your guests with its simple yet elegant presentation. This recipe uses Granny Smith apples for their tartness, balanced with the creamy sweetness of custard and the crunchy texture of Arnott's Family Favorites biscuits.
Æblekage is more than just a dessert in our household; it’s a cherished
family tradition passed down from my husband's grandmother. My journey with
this delightful Danish treat began when I married into the family and my
husband took the time to teach me his grandmother’s special recipe. We spent
weekends in the kitchen, laughing and sharing stories while peeling apples and
layering the dessert.
This dish not only brings a smile to our faces but also reminds us of the
importance of family traditions and the joy of cooking together. Apples are
known for their health benefits, packed with fiber and antioxidants, making
this dessert a slightly healthier option to indulge in. The simplicity of the
ingredients and the ease of preparation make Æblekage a go-to recipe for any
occasion, and it never fails to impress guests with its rich flavors and lovely
presentation.

the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Tips and Substitutes
- Dairy-Free Option: Use a dairy-free custard
alternative.
- Biscuit Substitutes: If you don’t have Arnott's
